Contrast Therapy

A “Cold Plunge” involves submerging part or all of the body beneath the cold water (below 10°C)

Immediately after submerging your body into the cold plunge, the brain increases production of norepinephrine, this increases focus. Blood rushes to the heart, brain and organs.

The warm pool is used to contrast the Cold Plunge. Going from hot to cold causes vasodilation and vasoconstriction of the blood vessels. The warm pool also mimics the effects of the Sauna by raising body temperature.

Traditional Sauna

Traditional Sauna involves heating of rocks, to warm the environment.

Generally, water is tipped over the rocks to create humidity and further warm the environment. A person typically spends 15-30min in a Sauna. Traditional saunas have been shown to be excellent at increasing growth hormone, improving cardiovascular health and detoxing heavy metals.

Compression Therapy

Compression Therapy uses compressed air to inflate and relax segments of equipment that is wrapped around your arms/legs/torso to mimic the natural muscle pump of the body and massage your limbs.

This compression moves Lymph which; decreases inflammation and removes lactic acid build-up. Lymph is a clear-to-white fluid made of: White blood cells, especially lymphocytes, the cells that attack bacteria in the blood. Lymph also contains proteins and fats. Lymph isn’t connected directly to the heart, and relies on muscle pump (movement) to move (squeezy) around the body. Doctors have prescribed compression therapy for thousands of years, as far back as Hippocrates of ancient Greece. Modern science continues to discover new benefits of compression therapy.

Infrared Sauna

Infrared Sauna’s uses light to create heat. An infrared sauna heats your body directly without warming the air around you.

Infrared Sauna’s seem to be a little more “gentle and relaxing” as they are typically not as hot. Benefits are the same as a traditional Sauna. They are a great tool to begin relaxing before a sensory deprivation tank experience.
